Blind to our own numbness

via Daily Prompt: Blindly

We see it everyday. The news shows the latest bombing in Syria right after the deaths from the gas attack. We play Black Ops for hours and watch elemental creatures fight for fun. The Avengers beat up the aliens and save New York but all this violence has it’s price.

In studies performed, when we are exposed to violence, we take much longer to respond to people in need of help (up to 45% longer). When children are exposed to violent media, they become more aggressive as teenagers.

We should be more aware of our numbness, and while violence is unavoidable, we should try to limit it. Maybe we’ll get a better outcome.
